Mighty Mighty Bostones to open
The Dropkick Murphys are bring their one-of-a-kind, American Celtic punk band act to Fenway Park for what is going to be an incredible concert this fall. Right up there with the best-known Boston-centric bands, the Drop Kick Murphys have been a big part of the Boston Sports, and especially the Boston Red Sox, scene for years now. With a band this popular Dropkick Murphys Fenway Park concert tickets are not going to last very long. They'll be rocking out at Fenway Park with all their hits Bostonians know by heart. Crowd favorites Tessie, Shipping up to Boston and the rest of the Boston sports songs are going to get the crowd going, so make sure you check it out. The Mighty Mighty Bostones, the ska band and another Boston music scene mainstay, will open both Dropkick shows. This is going to be a great show and tickets for the Dropkick Murphys and Mighty Mighty Bostones at Fenway Park are going to be going fast for sure!

The Dropkick Murphys Fenway Park show is scheduled for September 8 and 9, 2011, which fall on Thursday and Friday. Tickets for the Fenway Park Dropkick concert officially go on sale on July 7, however some are already for sale at various secondary ticket markets. I’m Shipping Up to Boston is Jonathan Papelbon entrance song, and of course Red Sox fans remember the bands seminal Tessie leading up to the 2004 World Series Championship run. This is not the first time the Dropkick Murphys have played at Fenway, as they performed Tessie in July 2004. However this marks the first full concert by the band at the ballpark. The Dropkick Murphys performed as the Red Sox made their way toward the World Series championships in 2004 and again in 2007

We feel honored and privileged to share a connection and friendship with the Boston Red Sox," said Dropkick's Ken Casey. "Our involvement in the 2004 and 2007 championship seasons are some of the greatest highlights of our career and our lives. But to be invited by the Sox to join the select few who have performed full concerts at the park is truly a dream come true!"

The Red Sox new ownership group led by John Henry has made a habit of hosting two concerts at Fenway Park each summer. Other concerts at Fenway include: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's, Jimmy Buffett, The Rolling Stones, the Dave Matthews Band, The Police, Neil Diamond, Phish, Aerosmith, and in 2011 the New Kids on the Block performed at Fenway. Fenway has also hosted the Hot Stove, Cool Music concert series which had John Legend as well as the Boston Landmark Orchestra.

Part of the proceeds of Dropkick Murphys Fenway Park Show will benefit the Massachusetts 9/11 Fund, a "non-profit corporation devoted to supporting families with ties to Massachusetts who lost loved ones in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, and ensuring that those lost on 9/11 are not forgotten."
